Life with no homework + Literacy Unit (The Very Hungry Caterpillar)

I’ve been meaning to writing a thank you to everyone’s kind comments on my education freakout.
I did another week of the classes, I forced myself too.
After taking about four days to even read emails back from the professor or adviser.
Long story short, adviser acted like the professor had no real right to try to drop me with my work being completed and turned in.
I just didn’t have it in me.  I fought with myself.  I made pros/cons.
I told myself I wouldn’t let one rude lady ruin my 2nd masters.
But I still was just ready for a “real life.”
Two weeks of summer freedom with online homework was more than I was getting before.
But honestly, it felt great to go and do what I want, when I wanted.
And not to worry about what assignment I needed to get done.
Last week, I officially withdrew from classes.
I’ll lose some money on the deal, but oh well.
I also found out another masters doesn’t even give me a pay raise,
due to the transfer in credits.
I would need to make up those transfer credits to meet the next pay scale raise.
I was a little worried I’d regret it.
But I don’t.
Last night, I’d normally be doing online homework.
{I did homework EVERY Monday night this year for classes on Tuesday.}
Instead, I did this….

 I went home {20 miles north:)},
to see this little miss play a softball game.
She was able to hit off of the coaches pitch, for the first time!
No tee!  Her face lit up when she saw me.
Very aware of where I was at every moment.
She then headed home with me for the evening.
She looked like a little princess sleeping on top of all the pillows:)
She may possibly love my Mollie girl as much as I do.
This was first thing from getting out of bed.
We had plans of going to the zoo,
but she decided she didn’t want to be gone all day because
she wanted time with Macey and Mollie.
So we headed to Walmart for fun things to do.
Have you seen these babies?  I really think I need them!
In every color!
I can not believe how many comments I have had about no TCBY’s
near them or never having had it.
AHH!  If it goes out in my city, I don’t know what I’m going to do!
I knew they had soft serve containers at Walmart,
but they venture into more areas now!
Subway + her favorite smoothie from McD’s.
Gracelyn informed me her cookie was huge and said, “Do you want to share it?”
Yes! Of course! That means its not technically cheating on my eating healthy deal!
We did this for awhile.
One of our purchases today.
It is actually a pretty cool little sprinkler.
And this…with our sidekick by us.
“I love my teacher.”
She informed me she doesn’t want to go to 1st grade,
because she doesn’t want a new teacher.
We moved to the front…..with Macey guarding.

I **may** have taught her how to laminate:)

Then we had cuddle time watching Justin Bieber’s movie on TV.

I was able to get my literacy unit on “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” completed this evening.
I haven’t uploaded it yet.  I got a little **lazy**.
But here is a preview.
And I’ll post about it tomorrow!:)

  1. G is adorable! So happy for you…looks like your heart took you in the right direction. Enjoy every minute of it!! 🙂

  2. I am so excited about your hungry caterpillar units..there isn't a unit of yours that I haven't liked; they're ALL great! Kudos for taking a break and not sweatin' the small stuff (don't you have a money tree in your backyard like the rest of us? 🙂 Life's too short to be so stressed…

  3. I read somewhere on your blog that maybe Very Hungry Caterpillar may be too young for some of your readers. Well, because I Googled VHC it brought me to you! I'm going from 3rd grade to K and VHC is going to be my theme for my room. So having everyday type items that VHC on them will be fun. There may be items that will be too difficult for K's, but hey…don't we differintiate! I'm looking forward to downloading, printing and laminating! Thanks for your beautiful work!!

PS. In your freebie of letters and numbers, I would like to use the numbers for calendar pieces. How would one go about having numbers 21-31 put on them?

    1. Hi there. Glad you found me! I just added the numbers for you and will be uploading it to TPT here in a few seconds. If there are certain skills you would like covered for a K unit based on VHC just send me an email to misspeare@gmail.com I am teaching for 3 weeks, but am still trying to get a lot done in also!
