MLK Picture

What the heck is up with a professor not letting you out even
five minutes early from a graduate class?
Ahhhh!
Getting home at 9 p.m. on a school night after being at some sort of school
from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. is just.not.right.
I am tellin’ ya!
It was a long.forever.long.day.
I broke out the,
“This is how it’s gonna be” attitude a.s.a.p. this morning.
Another teacher even commentend on how great they were in the hallway.
I simply replied,
“Someone sort of broke out the whip a.s.a.p.”
My poor kiddos.
But I am one exhausted.feel.like.I.have.1,000,000,000……..things.to.do
My room feels like it is a disorganized.caose.of.a.mess.
I.feel.like.nothing.is.getting.done.
Please tell me I’m not the only one that has days like this?
During our math talk time, literally, I was.talking.to.my.self.
Until I broke out the lil’ “Your.teacher.can.already.do.this” conversation.
Here is a picture of a little MLK Jr. project I thought up of in the middle of the night.
Instead of doing individual clouds, we made one big rainbow together!
I gave them a sentence stem for each color such as,
My dream for my future is __________.
My dream for our classroom is __________.
My dream for the world is ________.
My dream for my education is _________.
We wrote them in the middle and put our name right under it.
We then made a circle on the floor and took turns reading each of our dreams out loud.
I had them read one color and then pass it to me to staple together as we went.
I really, really enjoyed this simple, last minute activity.
I find it even more powerful to **hear** each of their dreams.
My kiddo from Sudan {had his brother and LOVE them} said,
“My dream for education is for no one to be afraid to go to school.”
At first I thought, “What?! You are scared here?!”
But then I realize he meant the kiddos back in his home nation.
Another kiddo said his dream for the world was for everyone to get more exercise.
Smart.cookie!
**The presentation in the hallway could be spiced up a bit, but with the hectic schedule I have going on I simply just stapled it up fast as we were getting ready to go home so they could help hold it!
And I was too lazy to take down my “Let it Snow” sign!
P.S- One of my kiddos who is on a preschool level wasn’t there for the whole project,
so that is why some of our colors are shorter!
