Olive, the other Reindeer Freebie:)

I’m going to break the bloggin’ rules and post twice in one day.
I figure since I haven’t been bloggin’ on a daily basis anymore due to my busy schedule,
that I can get by this time:)
I just created a very mini-unit on Olive, the other Reindeer.
I love this cute little story and felt the need to do something
I *wanted* to for school before I hit the sack.
In my sisters words as I got up from the kitchen table,
where I have pretty much been parked since Friday working on my ESL final project,
“You are finally finished?!”
Should of seen her face when I told her,
“Umm no. I still have to finish some things tomorrow.”
I should have went into detail about the things for my own classroom I *need* to do,
but will have to wait for another day {again}.
I started making this little unit to focus on the character traits of Olive,
since my kiddos just learned it last week in our basal.
I plan to use the bubble map to have my kiddos fill in character traits of him
and then use the first writing prompt for them to explain his traits with
details from the story to support their answer.
Then I just typed up a few more basic writing prompts for my early finishers.
I teach my mini-lesson in writing pretty fast
and then head back to the reading table to do another LLI group.
I pretty much am stuck at that reading table for 2 hours & 45 minutes a day.
Then I head back up and finish up writing with another little mini lesson
and to conference with my kiddos on their work.
I always try to have extra, meaningful work for early finishers ready to go.

Jen, I'll be looking for your activity! With all of my own class work that I had to get finished up, I'll be hunting for quick ideas for my own kiddos!
