Five for Friday~6/6

·

Now that I am 100% on summer break,
it is time to get this blog rollin’ with some fun!
I “borrowed” Kacey’s adorable buttons, I hope that’s okay:)
I said good-bye to room #143.  It’s been my home for 6 years.
This was the first place I had my “official” first classroom.
During my first year, I drove back to my parent’s house (20 miles away)
bawling & claiming I was quitting teaching, moving home,
and going to work at Walmart.
I was in cultural shock working in an inner city school.
I sucked it up, smiled, acted like I knew what I was doing.
I survived.
My first two summer weekends have been jammed pack with family events.
It felt good to be able to go and not worry about all I needed
to get done at home for the upcoming week.
G made her way to my house the very, very first summer weekend:)
When I get hot and frustrated, I tend to just GET things done.
Moving all of my items home was a tad worse than I imagined.
I gave up on fitting things in my garage & got a storage unit.
And let’s not mention the lack of help by a few people.
Due to the problem above, I problem solved and managed this….
I spent this first week of summer at a Kagan PD.
Fantastic PD, but it was rough being back in “school” mode.
Kacey made me the adorable notebook.  It kept my spirits up!
Tuesday evening my hometown was blasted with baseball sized hail.
I’m sure you’ve heard and seen it all over the news.
I spent 12 hours on Wednesday helping my parents
and aunt/uncle clean up.
I ended up walking down my old neighborhood
 house by house helping.
It was heartbreaking to see my “little” town look like it went through a war.
Yes, those are real ducks in the pond!
My aunt took the ducks from a friend who needed to get rid of them.
They survived the hail, somehow!

And..a little birthday shout out to my little brother, Jordan.
I suppose since he is 27, he isn’t so “little” anymore!

  1. ohhh my god I cannot believe that hail!! That is insane.

ALso, I probably will have to get a storage unit too once I pack up for the year. Every year my items get more and my garage is already full!

  2. Alisha, I feel you! I've had to switch classrooms every year except this one, and for the most part, without any help – especially from the hubby. Good luck in your new room! I'm also trying to spread the word – sorry for the shameless plug – I'm starting a new linky party for the summer called Sell It Saturday. I have a smaller blog, but if you're ever interested in joining in, that'd be great!

  3. I knew you had to be from Nebraska after seeing the size of that hail. I am glad you are all safe and I am glad that all of the horrible tornadoes they were predicting didn't end up as bad as they thought!

P.s. I think I need to get a storage unit as well!!! Ahhhh…the life of a teacher!
