Five for Friday~ September 20
We kept our noun trees up and added little baskets
to place our apples that we liked best in!
Student wrote their names on the color of apple
that they enjoyed the best after tasting each type.
Once we had all of our apples in our baskets,
we added them up and discussed which apple we liked least and most.

We’ve been working on place value HARD!
It was no better time to use Abby’s hands on activity.
I failed with bringing toothpicks to school, but luckily I had Q-tips.
They worked perfect once I cut off the tops!
{I had extra marshmallows for kiddos to eat!}
I threw in Apple Jacks of course,
since it was the start of apple week{s} for us!

I ordered a bunch of new books for our classroom library & for guided reading groups!
My students were SO excited that they were delivered.
I decided to make it a grand show and open the box with them.
You wouldn’t believe the “OOOOOOs,” I received.
A little sweetheart said, “We should say ooo-laaaaa—laaaaa!”

Have you seen this new book?
Click, Clack, Boo! By Doreen Cronin
I am beyond excited for this new addition to our classroom!

We will continue with apples and Johnny Appleseed next week.
One of my favorite units to teach!
Many of my students come to second grade having NO idea who Johnny is!
But they will leave my classroom lovin’ Johnny!
What a great idea, using marshmallows for place value! I love Abby's things. I love that you used Q-Tips to improvise…good thinking!
Your blog is beautiful! 🙂

I have seen the idea of using marshmallows for place value before. I think I am going to try using it with my class this year when we get to place value. Great idea – thanks for sharing.

Looks like you had some great fun last week… and were super busy. I can't wait to get my hands on Click Clack Boo, it looks adorable.
