Five for Friday 8/30

·
We have been rockin’ at Daily Five!
This week, we started full centers!
It wasn’t in the full plans for the week,
but Monday morning I decided to just give it a try.
It was amazingly well and there is no stopping us!
Do you build community in your classroom daily?
Every morning we high-five three people and tell them,
“Good Morning!  I’m glad you are here!”
Then we sit back down in our seats!
We’ve got it down so quickly now, it takes no time at all.
If I forget, you can guarantee they will remind me.
Sometimes we have to turn into, “Good Afternoon!”
I was grading while waiting at the chiro
and found this little gem!:)
Tomorrow is the first Nebraska Huskers game!
I know, I know..many of you root for someone else!
Can’t wait to do hangout with my family and go to the game!
But..I am NOT looking forward to 100 degree temps plus humidity.
Yes, IN NEBRASKA at the end of August!
Very rare!
I leave you with *one* of the best quotes of this week.
A few of my students are coming off of a not-so-great first grade year.
Circumstances had many kiddos together who shouldn’t have been.
Long story short…I’m trying really hard to improve their outlook on school.
One of my kiddos said the little quote above the other day.
It really made me smile to think she feels that it is so wonderful!
And yesterday, as I was getting a few kids to quit a little chit chatting
 while I was teaching,
another kiddo said, “Oh, tomorrow WILL be better.”
Bless his heart.

  1. That homework is so funny. Once, while teaching light, I had a student draw a rainbow with brown, black, and some other random colours. He wrote beside it "A rainbow is red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet. Unfortunately I don't have any of those colours". Kids are hilarious!
