Spotted Synonyms!

It is that lovely time of the year where assessments are apart of my kiddos daily lives!
After re-looking at data from the 6 tests
I give my kiddos at the beginning of the year,
I decided that I needed to “hit” synonyms a little extra hard
before I do the “final” assessment.
We started off our synonym fun by doing a review of synonyms.
My kiddos have been working with synonyms all year, so they had a pretty good idea.
We just needed some “solid” review.
We worked hard on “Catching Synonyms” and determining if the
pair of words were really synonyms or not.
I really enjoyed the conversations going on during this time!
Many kiddos where giving fantastic examples to
their buddies as to why certain pairs were not synonyms.
We “checked” our work by doing a whole group chart with
discussion/modeling of any word pairs that gave us a hard time.
Then it was time for kiddos to put their brains to work using synonyms in context!
Kiddos completed the writing independently during reading.
And then it was time for some “Catch the Synonym” fun!
It was all fun and games until I started using complete sentences with the synonym included!
Then their minds really had to start working!
We then used the skills we’ve been working on the last few days,
to create this little lady.
Synonym pairs are written on the “big” dots on the wings.
This unit is now, finally uploaded to TPT!
It is on sale for 24 hours, ending Wednesday at 10 p.m.
Here are a few more pictures of what is included.
I have, who has synonym card game.
{My kiddos struggled through this due to lack of listening!}
