Poppin’ our way through assessments~ Freebie

It is that time of year….assessments!
I’m lucky enough to not have a required state test this year.
However, 6 individual assessments to give each kiddo
 plus benchmarking to the “hard” level is keeping me busy enough!
It is also required that as I am doing assessments,
regular reading with guided reading groups are still happening!
I know, it is pure madness in an attempt to get all of this done.
It really feels like I’m testing every.second.of.the.day.
I do regular reading groups like normal,
 push the kiddos to an area near me to whisper read as I test another kiddo, 
then pull my kiddos back to the table for comprehension discussion.
And then every lesson I do for math, science, 
you name it is as quick as I can get it, 
in order to get kiddos busy and more testing accomplished.
As I was prepping for this week, 
I was thinking of motivation for my kiddos during this time.
Its rough when your teacher tells you that she HAS to get this testing done,
 when you want to tell her a story right.this.minute.
After a student finishes all of his or her assessments,
 he or she will get a popcorn to add to our 
“Poppin’ our way through assessments” classroom chart!
Once every child has POPPED their way through the assessments, 
we will have a poppin’ popcorn party!
I’m hoping this will help motivate every kiddo, 
not just the select few who are testing that day.
Good behavior while I am testing is really the only way we are ever going to get finished!

  3. How cute!! I love this! We start state testing tomorrow, and THEN we get to do all of our other, end of the year assessments for reading, writing, and math. Joy, joy!

    This is so cute though! Good luck with the testing! It's so tough to get it all in and teach a normal day!
