Snowmen at Night
I miss sleeping in and staying in my pjs,
but I sure did miss my kiddos!
Lots of hugs, smiles, and giggles were had today.
As always!
They were decked out in new shoes, new clothes, new jewelry,
and one sweetheart has lost two of her front teeth.

As B. walked into the classroom. this morning
I said, “Good Morning B… I think you have grown a foot!”
With a huge big smile on his face and big eyes he replied with,
“I AM EIGHT NOW!”
I guess turning 8 makes you grow a foot!
My favorite quote of the day!
My favorite quote of the day!
And another classic was,
“I got a new coat, but it was because I couldn’t find my other one
so my mom had to go buy me a new one. But I just found my old one in my locker!”
With the biggest grin on his chubby little cheeks.
This comes from the same kiddo that for two weeks before break
stated he only brought a sweatshirt to school.
I guess he will learn not to leave his coat in his locker anymore!
We started off our winter/snow unit that will eventually turn into penguins.
We listened to the story, Snowmen at Night on cd.
I love being able to enjoy the story instead of always having to read it!

We then created an anchor chart of things that the snowmen did in the story.
We brainstormed what we would do if we were snowmen at night!
And then it was time for us to make our own booklet!
We enjoyed using oil pastels!
I love that he included snowmen or women! We didn’t even discuss that!
The snow angels was a prediction from the story that a student made.
She noticed how they fell into the snow and predicted that they
were going to make snow angels, even though it wasn’t in the words! LOVE!
This student also informed me during our opening circle that he jumped off of a roof over break,
but it was okay because he didn’t break his neck!
This is a great idea for the book! I love that anchor chart 😉

I'm an anchor chart fanatic and absolutely LOVE how you incorporated the little details of "night" from the story into your chart by using black paper. Super cute idea!!
