It’s that time again where I get the privilege to test out some amazing products by Carson Dellosa.  Here are the items I picked this time around.

Screen Shot 2015-11-02 at 6.19.41 PMI was super excited to get the Differentiated Reading for Comprehension booklet.  Like all classrooms, I have such a wide range of levels that sometimes it gets just a tad hectic to plan and prep for each & every level.  And honestly, sometimes I just want to remember one story and it’s content!  Each story in this booklet contains a below level, on level, and above level story.  The stories are high engagement, nonfiction stories.

IMG_3024I also loved that each contains the vocabulary definition right on the bottom!  Each level then uses the same questions that includes multiple-choice, fill-in-the-blank, and true/false questions; short-answer writing practice; and comprehension questions.  It pretty much hits on everything!  You can see this amazing resource more in-depth by checking out this short video.Screen Shot 2015-11-02 at 6.33.39 PMMy students were very excited for new story starters!  I immediately added these cards to our writing center, which can also be used for an early finisher activity.  Screen Shot 2015-11-02 at 6.37.42 PMAfter using the cards for a few weeks, I decided to label that back of each card.  Students then simply write the number on their paper, this helps me determine which prompt they used.  I also added them to a ring to keep things a bit more organized.  I do allow students to take off the cards to share with another friend who is also at writing center or finished early with their work.  They take a lot of pride in being able to open & close that amazing, ‘lil ring!

Screen Shot 2015-11-02 at 6.40.36 PMMy “new” classroom came with no Judy Clocks…..I never knew how badly I’d miss those ‘lil things until I didn’t have them!  I do have a set of clocks through our math curriculum, but there is just something special about the yellow Judy Clocks.  I was so excited to receive the curriculum cut out Judy Clocks.  At first, I was a tad intimidated with the thought of poking a hole in each and every clock.  I was surprisingly shocked when one little “tap” of a brass fastener was enough.  It was super easy to assemble each clock.  Since we don’t hit telling time in our math curriculum into the spring, we are currently using the clocks when we have a few minutes to spare during the day.  My kiddos stick their clock in their math folder with no problem!
