If you give a snowman soup….

As we read, “Snowmen at Night” yesterday,
a student made the connection that if we *really* gave a snowman hot cocoa,
 he would melt!
 ‘Lil smarties I have!
This tied straight into our lesson for today!
What would happen if you give a snowman soup?
What would the snowman want with his soup?
Of course he would want ice because hot soup would be bad for him!
I stretched this lesson to talk about the cause and effect of giving a snowman soup!
We are currently working on states of matters.  Very slowly.
Sadly, science gets missed a few times a week due to our crazy marathon reading
and LLI/phonics/word work time.
I try to hit it in every other subject possible!
My kiddos did not think just showing him melted into a puddle of water
 was enough for the effect!
They claimed that the snowman would slowly melt,
just like our snow is currently outside!
Who am I to argue with 7-8 year old smarties?!
And then we discussed the states of matter of the snow/melted snow!
Again, we needed to SEE him fall!
We also thought that the sun/heat had a big part in our snow melting outside!
Finally, we did this craftivity + writing prompt from this amazing unit!
Tomorrow, we will be adding another circle under the one provided to write
about the cause and effect of giving a snowman soup!
Our legs are patterns because we are learning about them in art!
{Please excuse the semi-tilted pictures.  I was a little upset after dismissal, yet was still attempting to take pictures so I can stay on track for my blogging goals for this new year!}

  1. CUTE idea! I love those anchor charts too. Thanks for taking those pictures even though you were upset. I hope everything is okay. 🙂 You're doing well with your New Year's goals, but I thought you were already doing very well before New Year's. I always look forward to your posts.

  2. Okay your anchor charts are too cute! You are so creative! I can't even begin to make mine look like that. But I'm learning to not worry about that. My kids are just excited that I make them with them and love to guess what color marker I'll pull out next. Silly firsties!
