How to Make Snowman Soup!
Our snowman/winter week has been a huge hit in my classroom!
Today we took our lesson a step further and
wrote a how-to story based on how we would make snowman soup!
I really had planned on using this craftivity before Christmas,
but once I saw a picture on pinterest for the reindeer version,
we just had to make these cute little things for our Christmas gifts!
{These are the reindeer we created for gifts!}
But since I already had the items prepped for snowman soup,
I decided to adapt it to our “If you give a snowman soup” lesson!
So, instead of making snowman soup to giveaway,
we pretend we were making the soup that we gave the snowman yesterday!
We first brainstormed ingredients, materials, and steps to creating snowman soup.
Then it was our turn to write our own version!
But for a little twist, we didn’t enjoy the snowman soup,
but delivered it outside for our snowman to grab at night!

This is obviously their rough draft and needs punctuation help!:)
The one below cracked me up due to his use of a blindfold!
Just ignore the run on sentences with no periods!
For science, we then labeled the parts of the hot chocolate
aka snowman soup using solids, liquids, and gases!
I was extremely impressed with a few students knowing that steam
comes off of water as it is boiling, which would be a gas of course!
There was another very proud moment in our conversation,
but for some reason it isn’t coming to me!
We had a great discussion of how the chocolate chips were solids,
but they could also be melted into a liquid using heat.
We also touched on the mixing of a solid {cocoa powder} and liquid.
You can find the craftivity here!
LOVE IT! Now, in all your spare time, it would be great if you could stop by my classroom and make me some cute anchor charts! 😀
