Linky Party: Teaching Tip

I haven’t joined a linky party in awhile..and we all need a ‘lil party in our lives!
Today, I am linking up with my buddy Hadar for her party!
Everyday I am learning something new to make my classroom run smoother and quicker.
I don’t think I will ever quit changing one thing here and there.
No matter how hard I try to make it all 100% organized,
there is always something to improve.
My writing center was driving me beyond crazy.
I could not take the messy basket of student work that would pile up each day and week.
And lets be honest, I never looked at it daily or even weekly.
{That polka-dot table cloth is another story of crazy in my life. I can NOT teach them to keep it straight. And I am beyond a freak about it.}
Quickly one morning, I decided to bust out manila folders
and write a name on each.
I didn’t even take the time to make them cute or laminate.
Sometimes simple and efficient is just what it has to be.
They normally are stored in a basket, but I was using it for something else this day:).
Every couple weeks, I sit on the floor with the envelopes.
I check out what my kiddos have been doing in writing center.
I make a stack of “trash or go home” and “portfolio” work.
Then I quickly staple the packet of “portfolio” work and it is ready!

Since this is the first time for this, I am going through the stapled packets
to write little notes and sit down to conference with my kiddos
on what I personally want them to work on writing center.
I will then pull it back out next month to compare their work.

Simple.  Nothing crazy. But it works!
