A trip down memory lane.

One of my favorite stories from teaching happened my first year of teaching.
I was still in a semi-culture shock of coming from a small town to the big city.
Let alone, working in the “hard area” of the city.
One of my girls, Damia’a was constantly reading a book about the Titantic.
Somehow, the conversation turned into how it was based on a true story.
I will never forget the look on this poor girls face when I broke the news to her!
She {in my best street talk}, “Totally flipped out!”
Her heart was broken.
“But, Miss Peare!  How can it be real?  All of the babies?!  They all REALLY?”
“Miss Peare, are you SURE it wasn’t just a movie?!”
Her reaction lasted most of the day.
I’m pretty sure I broke her heart that day, literally.
It is a day I’ll never forget.
Every time I hear or see anything related to the Titantic, I always think of her.
It is one of my favorite stories to tell.
{However, as I was typing this I realized it is MUCH better in person!}
Today, a co-worker called me first thing this morning to tell me she thought of me.
I was a little nervous because she has crazy dreams that involve co-workers.
But, she thought of me and Damia’a and how I broke her Titantic heart.
So, here is to the 100th Day of the Titantic and a memory of teaching I’ll never forget!
